Academic Life coaching
When you have a map, the path becomes clear.
I’m an experienced educator who understands the disconnect between what students do in the classroom and how it shows up in the real world.
One of the first major crossroads in life happens when school ends and real life begins. Unfortunately, many students are left without a roadmap for how to get where they want to go.
This can lead to feelings of overwhelm and uncertainty that create an unproductive cycle of stagnation, self-doubt, or the feeling that you are not doing what you really want to be doing.
Academic Life Coaching offers students the chance to align with their authentic self, unveil their life purpose and walk confidently toward postsecondary and career decisions.
My mission is to help students create meaningful actions so that they feel in tune with their life path.

Through personalized coaching sessions, I support students in overcoming academic challenges, managing stress, building positive relationships, and turning their goals into action. Together, we create a plan that encourages growth, resilience, and achievement, helping students feel motivated and confident in their journey.

For students on a gap year or considering it, I offer guidance and support to bring clarity to the decision-making process. With my experience and knowledge of the gap year field, I’ll help you approach this opportunity with confidence and make the most of your time away from formal education.

Academic Life Coaching’s philosophy is based on three basic principles:
We are all unique
We are all similar
People can naturally achieve emotional intelligence
The core philosophy is centered on the belief that people can naturally develop strong emotional intelligence. It also centers around the belief that people are naturally motivated, naturally creative, naturally, resilient, and naturally empathetic. The challenge is finding the specific areas that need growth and exercise; this experience is unique to everyone but uses similar principles of investigation. I use principles from the International Coach Federation, along with an understanding of every individual’s uniqueness, in order to help young people achieve emotional intelligence and flourish.

Coaching works from a place of curiosity, empowerment and agency. Each session revolves around purposeful action steps that the student and coach will create together. This also creates a space for increased accountability through regular check-ins and added support as needed between sessions. Coaching helps us to become better in the areas of our lives that are keeping us stuck in the same old patterns while also providing opportunities to find those “ah-ha” moments and give us clarity around the possibilities in front of us. For older young adults who are feeling stuck, unmotivated, or fearful about the direction of their studies or career, life coaching can certainly help to explore those areas by developing greater self-awareness and catapulting into action.
-
Coaching works from a place of neutrality where the focus is on examining the present in order to cultivate future action. Psychotherapy and therapeutic counseling often entails examining one’s past in order to understand and navigate difficulties in coping with daily life that may stem from trauma, medical illness or loss, depression, or anxiety. A competent coach will always understand these boundaries and will make the client aware when they are potentially expressing emotions or obstacles that fall more in line with therapeutic counseling.
